Steel doors come in many shapes and sizes – so today, we’re going to explore the basic differences between interior steel doors and exterior steel doors. Any product choice will depend on the building type, use, and specification. Let us know in the comments if there is anything you would add!
Special thanks to Larry Coenen, LaForce’s Hollow Metal Office Manager. He started at the company 23 years ago and brings extensive knowledge and skill to the team. For further details, reference the Steel Door Institute (SDI) or the Hollow Metal Manufacturers Association (HMMA).
Note: In some cases, an owner might want their “interior” door to actually be an “exterior” door – for example, in parking garages or cold storage facilities. These situations call for the characteristics of the “exterior” doors even though they are technically in the interiors of the buildings.
