LaForce strongly believes in supporting the overall wellness of the communities in which we do business. We believe our company, as well as our employees, have a Community Responsibility, so that others have the same opportunities we have had. LaForce’s core value supports our initiative to provide charitable gifts to our local community organizations as well as volunteer opportunities for our employees.
LaForce’s employees have the desire to volunteer; the community has the need for volunteers; LaForce provides the means.
The LaForce Employee Volunteer Program – LaForce Volunteer Network- was developed by our employees for our employees. Our program promotes employee volunteerism through flexible working arrangements to allow for convenient volunteering opportunities. Volunteer activities are planned by the LaForce volunteer committee to take the time-consuming planning burden off the individual employee’s shoulders. About eighteen dedicated employees work together as the Volunteer Committee to plan and organize volunteer activities and events for fellow employees.
Since March, the Volunteer Committee has been working hard making connections with community organizations and developing volunteer activities for the LaForce Volunteer Club made of LaForce employees. We are excited to have completed a few very successful volunteer events already this year. Our first event was an Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Celebration at the YWCA of Green Bay. While, some volunteers stayed at LaForce to help with pre-event coordination, about fifteen volunteers had fun hiding Easter eggs in the snow, doing craft projects with the afterschool program and reading to the daycare children.
Over National Volunteer Week (April 22-26), the Volunteer Club celebrated by holding volunteer events throughout the week. Over 42 volunteers helped with four major events, such as picking up trash at a local park, visiting with the patients at the Curative Rehabilitation Center, gathering supplies for a non-profit’s annual event while staying in the LaForce office, and working with the YMCA – filling backpacks with food for hungry children in our community.
With a strong start to our volunteer program, the LaForce Volunteer Committee is excited to continue our work with local non-profits. Some upcoming activities include doing landscaping projects at a non-profit, serving a meal at New Community Shelter and honoring our military with a week-long donation drive to collect items for locally deployed troops.
